The EXPO 2027 site in Surčin will have 9,133 parking spaces for ordinary cars. The organiser expects about six million visitors over the 93 days of the exhibition. Put those two numbers side by side and you get the answer to the question anyone planning to drive should ask before buying a ticket: is there room for everyone? There isn't, and not by a small margin. Below are the numbers, and what they mean if you're coming by car, your own or a rental.
What we know about the parking
The contract to run the parking went to JKP "Parking servis" Beograd, for 226,931,995 dinars excluding VAT, Danas reported in September 2026 (in Serbian). The site will have 13 car parks for passenger cars, one coach park and a technical base, 10,173 spaces in all, split like this:
- 9,133 for passenger cars,
- 590 for disabled drivers,
- 363 for electric cars,
- 54 for coaches,
- 33 for vans.
Parking will be paid, but the price hasn't been published yet. Nor has whether you'll be able to reserve a space in advance.
The numbers
Six million visitors over 93 days is about 64,500 people a day. That's the average. Weekends and big concert days will be above it, a Tuesday in June below.
If every car brings three people, 9,133 spaces take about 27,400 visitors, a little over 40% of an average day. If cars bring two, they take about 18,000, less than a third.
Nobody visits an exhibition for an hour. Whoever arrives at noon stays until the evening, so each space mostly takes one car a day. A few free up in the afternoon, when the morning visitors head home.
These numbers are an estimate, not a forecast. We don't know how many people will actually come, or how many will take the bus. The conclusion holds even if the figures move a few thousand either way: on an average day, most visitors won't park on site. On a Saturday with a big concert, there probably won't be a free space left by around noon.
How to find a space if you do drive
Coming by car makes sense, it just needs planning:
- 1.Arrive before opening. The car parks fill from the morning, and anyone arriving after lunch on a Saturday risks having to turn back.
- 2.Pick weekdays for the Expo, if your schedule allows.
- 3.Check the parking price and rules before you set off, on the official exhibition website. Once Parking servis publishes its price list, that's the one place it's sure to be right.
- 4.If you're staying near the start of one of the EXPO bus lines, leave the car at your accommodation for the day of your visit.
On that last point: according to B92 (in Serbian), from 1 November 2026 four direct lines run to the site. EXPO 2 leaves from under the Gazela bridge by Belgrade Waterfront, EXPO 3 from Zemun (the Bačka terminus), EXPO 4 from Vukov spomenik and EXPO 5 from Ustanička. Buses run every 15 to 22 minutes. A railway from Zemun Polje via the airport to the site is planned, but there's no date yet for when trains will start.
When a rental car for the Expo pays off, and when it doesn't
If you're only coming to see the exhibition and staying in Vračar or Dorćol, you don't need a car that day. The bus takes you from the centre to the gate, and you don't have to look for a parking space.
A rental car for the Expo makes sense in three other cases.
The first is families with small children or older relatives. A whole day at the exhibition is tiring, and a packed bus at 11 p.m. after a concert isn't something a six-year-old copes with well. Then it's worth arriving early and getting a space.
The second is people staying outside the centre: Zemun Polje, Batajnica, Obrenovac, Pančevo or somewhere along the motorway. From there the car is fastest, and the direct EXPO lines don't go there.
The third is people staying a few days who want to see more than Belgrade. There's a fast train to Novi Sad, but public transport to Fruška Gora, Oplenac or the monasteries around Belgrade is slow and involves changes. By car you can see two such places in a day.
The exhibition site is right next to Nikola Tesla Airport. If you're flying in, you can pick the car up at the airport itself and be at the exhibition in a few minutes. With us, pickup and return at the airport are free. We can also bring the car to your hotel or flat in Belgrade, and agree the delivery price after you book.
Book early
EXPO 2027 tickets have been on sale since 15 September 2026, and the exhibition runs from 15 May to 15 August 2027. Summer 2027 is likely to be the busiest period for hotels and car rental companies in Belgrade, and automatics and bigger family cars will go first. If you've already chosen your dates, look at the vehicles and prices and send a booking. You pay nothing when you book, and the calendar on each car's page shows when it's free.
