The short answer: in central Belgrade you pay for street parking by zone, from 55 to 120 dinars, and you can stay from 30 minutes to three hours depending on the zone. The easiest way to pay is a text message to the zone's number (9111 for the red zone, for example) or the "Parking servis" app; with a foreign phone number, use the app and a bank card. If you don't pay, you get a daily ticket of 3,000 dinars, half price if you pay it within 20 days. For a whole day in the centre, a public garage works out cheaper.
We checked every price and rule below on the official website of JKP "Parking servis" Beograd, the city's parking company, on 25 October 2026. The links are at the end.
Zones and prices
You can tell the zone from the road sign and the colour of the plate at the start of the street. If in doubt, look the street up in Parking servis's street search.
| Zone | Maximum stay | Price | Extension | SMS number |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| A, purple | 30 min | 120 din per half hour | none | 9114 |
| 1, red | 60 min | 80 din per hour | 30 more min for 120 din | 9111 |
| B, white | 120 min | 65 din per hour | 60 more min for 180 din | 9116 |
| 2, yellow | 120 min | 65 din per hour | 60 more min for 180 din | 9112 |
| 3, green | 180 min | 55 din per hour | 60 more min for 160 din | 9113 |
| Blue (general car parks) | no limit | 45 din per hour | not needed | 9119 |
When you have to pay:
- purple, red and white zones: Monday to Saturday from 7:00 to 22:00, Sunday from 7:00 to 14:00,
- yellow and green zones: weekdays from 7:00 to 21:00, Saturday from 7:00 to 14:00, free on Sunday,
- blue zone: weekdays from 8:00 to 21:00, Saturday from 8:00 to 14:00.
Once your paid time runs out, you have to move the car. You can't pay for parking in the same zone again for the next 30 minutes, so "one more hour" in the same spot isn't an option.
How to pay
By text message
- 1.Check which zone you're in and find its number in the table above.
- 2.Type the registration number exactly as it appears on the plate, with no spaces or dashes, for example BG0123ŠČ.
- 3.Send it to the zone's number. You get a confirmation with the time your ticket is valid until. Keep it.
- 4.To extend, reply to the confirmation with just an asterisk (*). You can only pay for the extension in the last five minutes before your time runs out.
If the plate has the letters Č, Ć, Ž, Š or Đ, your phone has to send messages in UTF-8 (Unicode). Parking servis warns that "BG0123SC" instead of "BG0123ŠČ" counts as an invalid number, and so does D or DJ instead of Đ. You'll find the rental car's registration number in the registration document in the car; it's worth taking a photo of it when you pick the car up.
With a foreign phone number
Parking by text is charged by Serbian mobile operators and the ticket goes on the phone bill. The official site doesn't say it works with a foreign number on roaming, so don't count on it. Two options that do work:
- The "Parking servis" app (Google Play and App Store). It finds your zone by GPS, and you pay with a bank card or from a balance topped up in the app (200 to 5,000 dinars). Add the rental car's plate in the app and you'll get a reminder before your time runs out.
- An eParking ticket from a newsstand kiosk or from a parking warden on the street.
If you have a Serbian SIM card, texting is the quickest way.
Garages in the centre
If you're staying in the centre for more than two or three hours, a garage is simpler than a zone, as there's no time limit. Parking servis runs 9 public garages with about 2,800 spaces and 17 car parks with about 4,600. Prices at some of the central garages:
| Garage | First hour | Each further hour | Whole day |
|---|---|---|---|
| Obilićev venac | 150 din | 150 din | 2,000 din |
| Zeleni venac | 100 din | 150 din | 2,000 din |
| Pionirski park | 100 din | 150 din | 2,000 din |
| Masarikova | 100 din | 150 din | 2,000 din |
| Vukov spomenik | 100 din | 100 din | 1,500 din |
| Botanička bašta | 50 din | 100 din | 1,500 din |
You pay at the cash desk or in the same app, where you enter the number on your parking card.
Parking in Zemun
Our office is in Zemun, so this one comes up a lot. Since 6 July 2026, part of central Zemun, between the Kej oslobođenja embankment and the streets Stevana Markovića, Karađorđeva, 22. oktobra, Vrtlarska, Bežanijska and Njegoševa, has been a green zone instead of a blue one. That means 180 minutes at most, 55 dinars an hour and 60 more minutes for 160 dinars. You pay on weekdays from 7:00 to 21:00 and on Saturday from 7:00 to 14:00, and the SMS number is 9113.
For a walk up to Gardoš and along the river, you can leave the car in the "Pinki" garage: 100 dinars for the first hour, 150 for each further hour, or 1,500 dinars for the whole day. Central Zemun also has a pedestrian zone closed off by bollards, which you can't drive into. More on picking up a car or having one delivered in this part of town is on our Zemun car rental page.
Parking at the airport
If you pick up and return the car with us at Nikola Tesla Airport, you don't need to park at all: we agree where to hand the car over before you arrive. How the pickup works and what to bring is on the Belgrade Airport car rental page.
If you're leaving a car at the airport for some other reason, the airport publishes its own car park prices and rules at beg.aero.
If you get a ticket
Anyone who doesn't pay, or stays longer than allowed, gets an electronic daily parking ticket (eDPK). Don't look for it under the wiper: it is issued electronically, against the registration number. It costs 3,000 dinars in the zones and 2,000 in the blue zone, is valid until the same time on the next day that parking is charged, and only in the zone it was issued for. Pay it within 20 days and you pay half. After that, Parking servis starts enforcement, with interest and costs on top.
A car parked illegally, on the pavement, in a pedestrian zone or in a disabled bay, can be towed away. Towing a car weighing 801 to 1,330 kg costs 8,830 dinars, and 1,331 to 1,900 kg 13,245 dinars; after 72 hours, storage adds 500 dinars for each day or part of a day. To find out where a towed car was taken, call 11011.
With a rental car there's one more step: the eDPK and any penalty notice go to the car's owner, which is the rental company. Under our terms and conditions, the renter is responsible for traffic offences committed during the rental. If you see you've been given an eDPK or the car has been towed, call us straight away on +381 62 235 536. The sooner we know, the better the chance the ticket gets paid within the 50% discount period.
Tips for driving around Belgrade
- Before you leave the car, check the zone sign at the start of the street, or look the street up in the street search.
- Turn on notifications in the app for the rental car's plate, so you know when your ticket is about to run out and whether an eDPK has been issued.
- Don't stop on the pavement in the centre, even briefly. Being towed costs far more than an hour of parking.
- If you're staying inside a zone, ask your host about parking; hotels and apartments often have their own spaces.
- For a whole day in the centre, Obilićev venac or Zeleni venac cost 2,000 dinars, less than a daily ticket.
If you're still planning your trip, see our rental prices or go back to the home page and choose your dates.
